Summer Research Opportunities

There are many opportunities to pursue research during the summer, both at Washington and Lee University as an R.E. Lee Scholar or at another institution, such as

• NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates – application deadlines vary by site
• Distributed Research Experiences for Undergraduates (DREU) – specifically for underrepresented groups in computer science (women, Hispanics, African Americans, and American Indians); application due February 15, 2011.

Talk to the Computer Science faculty if you’re interested in pursuing one of these opportunities or if you know of other opportunities that we should add to this list.

 

HCI REU Program

The Human Computer Interaction Graduate Program at Iowa State University hosts a summer Undergraduate Research Experience, sponsored by the National Science Foundation. This is a ten week internship where students take short courses in HCI and work in interdisciplinary teams on research projects. Housing and meals are provided, as well as a stipend. The application deadline is February 15, 2009.

Note that the program starts May 27, which may cause a problem with your spring courses.
